This is the beginning of an "easy" shawl from the book Victorian Lace Today by Jane Sowerby (thank U Oogyknitter!). I've had this yarn, Feza Kid Mohair. for ages and am glad it finally has a known destiny.
what is a thrumed sock? I think your small winged shawl came out very nicely, as did your "binge knitting" piece.
Personally, I like the bit of neuroscience and think it's cool that you are using knitting in your class to show synapses formation in learning a new skill.
Thanks for the comment, andyktoo! I do intend to get back to adding neuroscience to the blog... A thrumed sock is one that is hairy on the inside because pieces of fiber are added to individual knit stitches at regular intervals. That sock remains only part finished, but now that it's getting cold I might get back to it soon.
